Shokudo has surprised me with its juicy tender burgers. The first time i came to this place, i ordered the mentaiko pasta. Although it was good, it was nothing amazing. However, the burger that another table ordered caught my eye as it looked pretty good and filling. A check of the price revealed that it came at a very affordable price of i think 10 dollars too.

So i made it a point to come back to try it out and it was GOOD. The meat came piping hot, a very good sign and it was not over done, another good sign. When I bit into the meat the juices came exploding out and it was amazingly tender. I may be slightly exaggerating and i might have just been lucky to get the burger on a good day so i would recommend people try it out for themselves.

a run to the nearby bathroom to puke and a rumbling stomach is what describes my experience at Shokudo Pasta and Pizza place this evening.

The restaurant is located at City Link Mall and was a highly anticipated dinner with my gf and her family. Did an advanced reservation, saturday, at around 5pm and was suprised to see that there was no Q, which is an indication of how popular restaurants are in Singapore..longer the q, better the food.

anyways the ambience was nice, even though the music was a bit garish..does not go with the food at all!!

i ordered for pasta with spinach and chicken (orginally salmon, asked for replacement)...the pasta as such was good..but i was surprised with the color of the chicken...looked straight out of a freezer...i thought "maybe its the way japs eat it"...after a few munches i realized that the meat was raw...

RAW...in todays time..when bird flu is so rampant, i wonder how can they serve half cooked chicken? i asked the waiter to have a look at it..he took a few pieces to show to the chef...what happened next will bowl you over.

after a few minutes, he came back with a plate filled with what looked like basel sauce chicken...i didnt know whether to laugh or to cry..i guess the waiter intended to say" SORRY MATE FOR THE RAW CHICKEN, BUT HEY LOOK I COOKED IT FOR YOU NOW..WHY DONT YOU EAT THE CHICKEN SEPERATELY...

What i am apalled with this place is complete lack of customer service management from the crew...at the end of my dining (after a round of running to the bathroom) they still had the nerve to charge me for the food...

i should have read this before blowing up 130+ SGD here in this fake place..

Bottomline: AVOID THIS PLACE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN...WARAKU IN CENTRAL WOULD BE A GOOD ALTERNATIVE

One of my friends recommended me to this new Shokudo Pasta and Pizza at Citylink. I understand from her that the establishment had started its operations in December 2007. The interior design gives a pretty neat and clean feeling. They do have an outdoor dining area too, but I guess it would be quite warm. It will be perfect for the smokers.

We ordered a total of 3 pasta, 1 pizza and an appetizer. Our list as follows:

-Gindara Wafu sauce pasta

-Beef Stew Miso Ni Pasta

-Shokudo Style Carbonara Pasta

-Curry mashed potato pizza

-Ebi Puri Puri Age

The Beef Stew is pretty good, very soft and tender. I must emphasize that even the carrots and radish are soft and full of flavour. I tried a mouthful of my friend’s pasta too. The Gindara (cod fish) is pan-fried, the skin is quite crispy. My friend’s commented on his Carbonara too. He finished his pasta, and didn’t feel ‘gerlat’ at all. I was surprised when I ate the pizza. The super thin crust was very crispy! The mashed potato didn’t affect the pizza’s crunchiness. (Didn’t turn soggy) My favourite dish during that meal was the ebi puri puri age. It is actually fried prawns with wasabi mayo. The special blend wasabi mayo goes well with the succulent prawns. We wanted to try their Shokudo tofu cheesecake, but we were quite full. It’s highly recommended by them.

Overall, the food is oishi! I will definitely return to this restaurant. I have in mind to try a few other dishes, like their kaki and ham pasta, soup pasta, salmon spring roll, and mushroom soup.
