One of my favorite places in Singapore for milkshakes! Steeples' peanut butter and chocolate milkshake never fails to pick me up on a warm swarmy day. A fellow colleague swears by the homemade fudge and the peanut butter cookie.
Desserts aside, they serve one of the most authentic reuben sandwiches in Singapore! The tangy sauerkraut and salty pastrami served open-faced on a lightly toasted rye bread is absolutely delicious. Another perennial favorite is the club sandwich, which has fried eggs, bacon, cucumbers, tomatoes, ham/turkey all stacked between three layers of toasted white bread.
As the place is pretty small, consisting mostly of counter-top seats, it tends to get pretty crowded during lunch hour. But it's definitely worth a trip and the wait.

This deli has been around at least since the 1st time I stepped into it to celebrate my friend's birthday some 11 years ago.
It seemed apt to come to this place once again to catch up on good old memories with this same friend who was back visiting from his acting career in the States.
Great memories, great food, this deli has stood the test of time to continue to order no-nonsense food that's sure to leave you ready for more.
It was at this place, when I was first introduced to the joy of adding vinegar to a plate of piping hot fires, the slight drizzle of the vinegar giving the chunky fries a very unique overall flavour.
To me, this place is The Place to go for great sandwiches. Two recommendations here, the hot roast beef sandwich with cheese and the corned beef sandwich with cheese, which are perfect for anyone looking for a real "power lunch".
Add one of the delicious milkshakes, I think they have 8 different flavours, and you have a great lunch packed with all the works.
If you are greedy, and have room for more, try their delightful pecan pie and carrot cake. For me, the carrot cake is sinfully healthy, if you could call something that. This is one cake where the carrot strands stand out, giving it a nice sweet flavour.
Steeples, definitely a staple, when you want it.
