Generally, the meat dishes at Carousel are done very well. If you are dieting or want to focus on the good stuff only, just head straight to the mains and carving stations at the back. And save some space for the desserts too.
1) Braised Beef with Carrots and Truffle: Must -try
2) Black Pepper Encrusted Duck.: Very good
3) Aglio Olio Spaghetti was cooked upon order and perfectly al dente. Simple and delicious.
4) Chilled Seafood Section with Maine Lobster Claws, Boiled Prawns, Crayfish, Scallops, Mussels and Crabs. These are fresh enough
5) Poached Egg with Smoked Salmon and Ham. I loved the runny, perfectly poached egg
6) Kebab was amazing, full-bodied and nicely spiced through.
7) Sausages were also very good, textured and salty

Amazing selection of food
For an all-halal buffet, I would say Carousel was very good. The choices for sunday brunch were endless and it was easy to get overwhelmed by the selection. I don't think theres any way for anyone to taste all of the food in the spread. Even for a big guy like me, it was just impossible. I regret not having the roast duck and the lobster in the crustacean section.

Went there last night with the wife and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good service, plates were cleared promptly and water refilled without having to request it. But is it me, or are Singaporeans becoming more demanding? People next to our table kept asking staff to do ridiculous things like "Can you look after our handbags?".
Anyway, the food was good. There were 3 types of roasts (beef rib, lamb and chicken), although the lamb did seem a little dry. The sheer number of condiments to go with your roast will boggle your mind. The seafood was fresh. The oysters were being shucked right before our very eyes, and the sweet clams were, well, sweet!
I had roast duck, and the portion they gave me was really generous. It was succulent. What was really amusing was the way they served the chicken rice. When the chef asked me "one ball or two", I must say I gave a rather quizzical look, but he then proceeded to show me the balls in question. Chicken rice balls. My wife laughed her head off.
Dessert was good as usual. We like the fact that they come in cocktail glasses (oh the irony of being in a halal restaurant and using these glasses!). We had a pseudo degustation dessert where we tried everything. The grains in the rice pudding were a little hard, and the tiramisu rather insipid, but otherwise, the clafoutis was smooth and tangy and the bread and butter pudding... well... there's a reason why it has remained on the menu for AGES.
I'm sitting here writing and drinking a purifying cup of tea as penance for my sinful indulgence yesterday. The meal was not perfect, but since when has that stopped me?

I like this place - went twice; one for lunch and another for dinner.
With the price of $30 something for lunch and $40 something for dinner, the variety is not too bad.
They had the japanese station; which serve four type of sashimi, cold soba and some appetiter.
Another one is the cold seafood and salad stations which I like very much, most of them were very fresh and sweet. They have prawn, crayfish, two or three shellfish.
Meat station; two western soups, either roast chicken or lamb or beef on the rack one side of the station, another side, they have the western cooked food. When I went for lunch, they had a grilled lamb which was very tender.
Asian station - two asian soup. which they serve tom yam soup when I went for dinner and it was very good not too red but still have the spicy. They had beef noodle soup which I feel was as good as the one I had in Bangkok and they had all the chilli and sauces to go with this noodle soup which is quite rare to find in hotel. The cooked food look good - variety from chinese to indian, I did not manage to eat all of them but friends who eat with me comments that it was not bad.
Dessert - did not have my liking but they have chocolate fountain with fruits.
Will definitely go back.

Customer service at this restaurant is good! However, the food was a disappointment. The spread of cooked food was limited and not very impressive. I did not try much of the seafood as they did not look appealing.
The sashimi was very good though. I had lots of salmon and red tail sashimi and they were excellent. The desserts were nice...tastes better than most of the cooked food.
I don't think I will go back to this restaurant for dinner again.... =( I went there really hungry but I did not eat much that night. This is one of those buffet dinners where I am not motivated to go for multiple rounds of food and eat till I drop....

ok, I went back to carousel recently with a bunch of my colleagues for the dinner buffet. It was a disappointment. The high tea buffet was much better, and cheaper to boot!
Nevertheless, I had a field day taking photographs with my new Fujifilm F31fd. =)
Just some brief comments about the food. The seafood was definitely the most attractive eye catching part of the buffet. However, upon digging my way into the crab, I realised that the meat was too mushy to be fresh. I took a little bit to try and there was not much taste to it and it was a little fishy. The oysters were ok. I ate like 7 and I did not get any food poisoning. They were pretty ok in terms of freshness. The other highlight of the meal were the desserts. Leave alot of room for them. I had over 10 'shots' of yoghurt/rice pudding etc. They were nice to look at and even nicer to eat! Overall, the cooked food was disappointing. I did not eat much of it. The little i ate were not that appealing. I tried the chicken rice dish and the rice was very bland and not fragrant. Meat carvings were tough and dry. Only generous amounts of sauce could make me swallow them.
Something to note: The tiramisu runs out fast, and I did not get a chance to try it. I have a photograph of it though. =(
As far as buffet goes, the standard of Carousel is better than most. However, if you are looking for a gastronomic experience, you could do better at more expensive hotels. This buffet cost me $42 +++. well, you pay for what you get.

As far as buffets go, this place takes the cake! Plus, its halal too. Went there for high tea and it cost me $23.50 per pax (citibank has a 15% discount on top of that!)
I am not usually a fan of buffets as more often than not, the quality of the food is sacrificed for obscenely large quantities of badly prepared food. But thankfully this place managed to provide a nice spread while maintaining a high quality.
Food to try: Waffles! They are freshly made and very nice when hot. Prata!! Salmon sashimi.
Thumbs up to this classy buffet spread. Beats Sakura and the rest of the similarly priced buffets.
