They do take reservations for small groups. I called and booked a table for 2. Reservations is usually required especially for weekends as the restaurant is quite small. But if I reach on time for my reserved table, I didnt have to wait..
But can be quite noisy inside when the restaurant is packed and the waiters are very busy. But then it feels homely in a way. You might have to explain what you want clearer though, cos the last few times I went there, practically all the staff are non singaporeans.
The food there is nice and affordable. The side dishes which comes free are refillable and nice. If you like the side dishes, u can ask them to sell u in small quantities. Usually there are 6-8 free side dishes for you (the lady boss told me it depends on her mum's mood, her mum is the cook.). haha
They have the seafood steamboat and the stir fried chicken/pork on a hotplate. For both of these items, u can actually request for them to add in rice at the end and fry for you. U will get pretty nice and tasty fried rice with the taste of the steamboat/fried meat.
For the non-adventurous, you can try the hot bowl rice or the ramen. They also have some of the more Korean style food on the menu which u probably dont see it elsewehre. Can try them out too.
The food portions there were pretty huge and quite affordable. Except for the salad bar which i didnt really like. Its included in most of the main course or u can opt for it at $10.90. I find the $10.90 price pretty expensive considering it didnt really have many items on it and I was comparing it to the Sizzler's salad bar..
But overall, if u take the main course, its pretty worth it considering that u can have the salad bar as a side for free. Great service when I was there and I appreciate it when the waiter remembers what each of us ordered and he served it to us directly without needing to ask. There were 6 of us, so its not exactly easy to remember what everyone orders especially since the restaurant was pretty packed.
Was celebrating my birthday there and the restaurant gave a complimentary slice of ice-cream cake. Had the usual ice cream sundaes which was as usual sinful and delightful. Reminds me of my childhood days when my parents brought me to Swensens
The black pepper crabs were spicy but pretty nice. It had distinct flavours and the tasty. Didnt really like the chilli crabs cos I dont like the tomato ketchup type sauce it has..
Overall the food there was pretty nice. But service not too good, had to repeat requests a few times everytime before someone brings us the thing. And other than the crab dishes, the rest of the dishes were pretty small in portion.
Ate the durian pudding. The way it was served was pretty impressive. Durian pudding was also very nice.

The service there was pretty good, with the waiters changing your plates once they get too dirty. Also polite in recommending dishes but not forceful though..
We ordered the crab in 3 different cooking ways.. The chilli crab was fantastic (at least it didnt have the distinct tomato ketchup taste) with the fried mantou. Lots of gravy given. The white pepper crab was nice but I prefer black pepper crabs which they didnt have. The butter crab was too dry though, didnt really fancy it.
The butter prawns were nice and tasty. Love them. You can opt for the desserts after your meal. I saw other ordering them and thought the desserts look nice. But we were too full to order desserts. haha.
Better to book a table beforehand though. It was full that day when i went.
